BAS members live all around the country and the world, and we want to help connect members who live near each other. If you would like to help plan, organize, or host a BAS Alumni Fellowship event in your area, please email the Board at communications@byubaa.org. As they are planned, more information will be posted here.
The Dinner is a fundraiser for student scholarships and a celebration of Black BYU students and alumni. The Dinner is open to all BAS supporters, including alumni, students, faculty, and allies (no BYU affiliation necessary). The program includes a three-course seated dinner, remarks from this year’s BAS Scholarship recipients, a musical performance, and a keynote address. Attire is business or cocktail.
Please check back for information about the 2021 Scholarship Dinner.
In 2019, for the third consecutive year, the BAS participated in BYU-Provo’s New Student Orientation activities as a way to welcome new and returning Black students to a new school year. In August 2019, the BAS hosted a booth at the First-Year Fair, as well as a Student-Alumni Mixer.
2020
The BAS and BSU hosted a Virtual Black Graduation! We enjoyed opening and closing remarks from BAS members, a presentation from the BSU president, a keynote address, and individual presentations and comments by each Black 2020 graduate.
2019
On Saturday, April 27, Black Student Union members held a Black Graduation ceremony for them and their families. The Black Graduation program included a musical number, Kente stole ceremony, poem performance, slideshow, and keynote address. We are so proud of the graduates for organizing this great event!
